What’s one to do with five castles, a 1,500-acre medieval estate and working farm in Umbria? If you’re Zenaide Giunta, great-great grand niece of Napoleon Bonaparte, you create a spectacular venue and throw open your doors.
Giunta has launched Le Torri Di Bagnara Luxury Castles Collection, and is offering two of the five castles on the verdant estate as a Castle Villa (the Pieve Castle Villa), designed as a luxurious private home, but offering the services of a fine hotel, and the other (Il Castello di Bagnara) as a palatial events space and wedding venue.
Guests who stay at this historic castle will find themselves blissfully situated amidst a 1,500-acre estate and working farm—which Zenaide refers to as “a private green heaven.” Manicured gardens designed by Mario Margheriti, a famous Tuscan landscape designer, include an herb garden with aromatic plants and a kitchen garden with fresh vegetables for guests to pick and enjoy—dotted by flowers, pomegranate and cherry trees, with laurel, rosemary, and lavender bushes, and oak and olive trees.
The Pieve Castle Villa sleeps 15, has 9 bathrooms, a professional kitchen, a Renaissance-styled courtyard, and a saltwater pool. The estate’s farm breeds hare, roe-deer, and Chianina beef cattle, and also cultivates honey, herbs, and vegetables.
While there is not a dedicated spa space, per se, there are a number of well-curated spa treatments that one may choose from, including the Honey Massage (the estate’s honey is infused with sweet almond oil and rose-infused oil drops) and Watsu that is performed in a panoramic salt-water pool.
This is not a simple house rental, but a life experience that speaks to all the senses…
The farm-estate’s herbs, honey, and extra-virgin olive oil are used in the spa treatments. For example, with the Anti-Stress Massage, one may choose from oils infused with garden-fresh chamomile, lavender, peppermint, rosemary or sage.
“This is not a simple house rental, but a life experience that speaks to all the senses,” shares Giunta.
