On my last day of traipsing through the aisles of the ISPA Expo in Vegas, I spotted a small blue nylon zipper pouch at the Anatomie clothing booth. I’ve been a fan of the luxury clothing line since it debuted 10 years earlier, and was glad to catch up. It turns out, that small blue pouch is actually a packing cube—specially created to celebrate the brand’s 10-year anniversary.
Anatomie is the brainchild of Kate and Shawn Boyer—the husband-and-wife team who started out in the active clothing business. A self-taught designer born in Budapest, Kate worked as a teenage girl’s gymnastics coach to help finance her MBA in International Trade in Montepellier, France. She dressed the championship team in the very outfits she had designed for her personal wear.
These unfussy pieces are not only machine-washable but super-lightweight and wrinkle-free. Bonus: The majority of the fabrics hang-dry in about 20 minutes.
Later, working on St. Barth, she created private-label collections for a number of luxury resorts. Meanwhile, her husband-to-be Shawn was designing customized clothing for “hard-to-fit” athletic men. The two met in Miami, and the rest is history. The couple transitioned their activewear experience into the athleisure category—a perfect fit for spas and resorts.
What makes Anatomie so special? Aside from the simple and elegant styles, the clothing is designed for comfort and easy care (think long plane rides). It really is the ultimate in travel clothing. These unfussy pieces are not only machine-washable but super-lightweight and wrinkle-free. Bonus: The majority of the fabrics hang-dry in about 20 minutes. I ask Kate her favorite pieces, and without hesitating, she shares they are the “go-everywhere” Buda mesh top and the Kate pants (the latter nice and stretchy).
But back to that blue packing cube that drew my eye. It’s a freebie with the purchase of three or more pieces (all of Anatomie’s items are designed to fit inside). Prices range from $45 for a top to $425 for a jacket. I love the items pictured on this page: the Kenya jacket in khaki, Cami tank in green, and the Skyler pant in khaki.
The packing cube is designed to hold three pairs of pants, two tops, and two jackets—and weighs a mere four pounds when packed. It’s available while supplies last, and I’ll be keeping my eye out for additional anniversary specials. You may browse the new collection at anatomie.com, or find select pieces at spas that carry the line, including Canyon Ranch (Arizona), Four Seasons (Maui), the Golden Door, and Sea Island.
