One of the most respected American beauty writers, Dana Wood brings her wealth of talent and insight to Insider’s Guide to Spas as our new Contributing Beauty Editor.
Dana Wood has been writing about beauty and wellness for decades, and can’t believe she’s as obsessed with these topics today as she was in the Nineties. No matter how many times she taps the words “hyaluronic acid” or “healing modalities” into her keyboard, it never gets old.
A 20-year veteran of Condé Nast, Wood has served as Beauty Director for three of its publications (W, Cookie, and Brides). Her first “real” job after graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology was as a cub reporter on the beauty desk of WWD.
In the early Aughts, Wood left the editorial world for a few years to take on the role of Assistant Vice President / Strategic Development for the Luxury Products Division of L’Oréal. This position entailed trend analysis, indie brand acquisition research, and copywriting for Lancôme, Kiehl’s, Giorgio Armani Beauty, and Ralph Lauren Fragrances.
In 2014, Wood and her family relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida, from New York City. Since then, she has contributed extensively to The Wall Street Journal and Alexa, a luxury style section published by The New York Post. Wood also has corporate clients in the beauty, fashion, polo, and tennis spaces, as well as a blog, floridabeautyproblems.com.
Her peak spa experience? Wood says it’s impossible to decide between the Coco-Mango Body Buff at the Driftwood Spa at Jakes in Treasure Beach, Jamaica, The Land of Beautiful Waters Anti-Aging Facial at Four Seasons Nevis, and the 80-minute 5 Senses massage at the Spa by JW in Marco Island, Florida.
Please join us in welcoming Dana Wood as the new Contributing Beauty Editor for Insider’s Guide to Spas.
