It’s time to celebrate the seventh annual Hemp History Week, June 6th through June 12th with our round-up of good-for-you products. Eco-friendly hemp isn’t only a nutritious food, it’s also one of the best examples of sustainable agriculture (to learn more, check out hemphistoryweek.com). Over half of all US states have lifted the ban on industrial hemp farming at the state level, but federal law still prohibits commercial industrial hemp cultivation.
“Hemp is widely recognized as a nutritious super-food, yet leading brands in the natural products industry must import their hemp to meet the growing demands of the US market,” says Eric Steenstra, executive director of the Hemp Industries Association. “Hemp History Week educates consumers nationwide about the benefits of hemp products, and the campaign has grown tremendously in the last seven years, but our ultimate goal is to legalize hemp farming at the federal level, so hemp can me grown by farmers here in the US.”
