Just out of soft mode, My Skin Authority, has officially launched. The new beauty app is straightforward, simple, and designed to connect consumers with a live skincare coach who can help with skincare guidance and answer questions not only about Skin Authority, but other leading brands, as well. (All skincare coaches are certified and licensed estheticians.) Accessible 24/7 no matter where you are—at home, in the spa, or on the road—the app gives you access to skincare expertise via phone, live chat, video chat, email, or a scheduled call back.
The app also features an educational blog called the “Beauty Workout Zone.” Full of helpful and practical skincare tips, here you’ll find answers to topics like how your skin differs from to day to night and how to fight premature aging with antioxidants. There are a variety of informative videos in which founder Celeste Hilling demystifies many important skincare concerns with video segments such as “Practicing Safe Sun,” “Balancing Oily Skin,” and my favorite “Facial Mask Essentials.”
“The fundamental part of the app is facilitating a dialogue between the live skin coach and the consumer when it’s convenient for them—and then maintaining that on an ongoing basis.”
While there are thousands of health and beauty apps on the market, Maurice Voce, co-founder and chief marketing officer at Skin Authority, believes that the brand’s approach is unique and different. “The other health and beauty apps are automating the process of support and guidance,” he explains, “for example, you go to an app, fill out a questionnaire, and then an automated robot gives you a canned response based on your answers.”
And that’s exactly where My Skin Authority stands apart. The major point of the app is to connect the consumer with a live skincare coach. Voce and team have been working on the app for about a year. “The app is a facilitation of a real relationship,” he says. “The fundamental part of the app is facilitating a dialogue between the live skin coach and the consumer when it’s convenient for them—and then maintaining that on an ongoing basis. It’s all about connecting the consumer with the spa professional—not disconnecting them. We need to be an advocate in showing consumers how this can work. We’re showcasing the personal touch.”
You can download the free app at the Apple App Store and on Google play.
