Cashmere never goes out of style. Here are three of my favorite lines with new offerings, just in time for the holidays.
Taiyéty: Cashmere Scarves that Tell Stories
My forever-chic spa colleague, Jeannie Frazier, founder of Spa Curated, a boutique business that curates the best of luxury spa retail, recently introduced me to this gorgeous new line of cashmere scarves and wraps. Founded in 2020 by sisters Chrissa Markos (a photographer artist) and Ereni Markos (a marketing professor), Taiyéty is a Greek-inspired design label that draws its inspiration from the Greek landscape–and intriguing cityscapes (note “Athens Corner,” shown below, a felted cashmere scarf measuring 50 by 78 inches).
The name draws its inspiration from the the Taygetos Mountain region in the Peloponnese, from whence the sisters hail. They have created an ethereal collection of edgy, arty, and extremely wearable scarves and wraps that feature Chrissa’s digitally printed images on cashmere. “We digitally printed on cashmere because of its ability to render a fluid piece of art, that when wrapped an array of colors and lines are experienced, while when open the artwork is revealed. The fabric galvanizes the image creating a most luxurious experience for the wearer, both in the softness of the material and the beauty of the imagery,” say the sisters. The end-result is simply stunning—think muted hues and weathered textures.
Take note, the scarves are created in very limited numbers and can be found in spas such as Four Seasons One Dalton Street, Boston–the first spa to carry the line. “I was instantly drawn to Taiyéty because of the unique art and the high quality,” shares Lana Labrecque, Director of Spa & Wellness. “I love that the art can be displayed differently, depending on how you wear your scarf. You can even use it as a throw on your favorite chair. The cashmere is so beautiful, you can wear these pieces year round.”
Anatomie: The Cashmere Capsule
I’m a longtime fan of Anatomie, the luxury clothing brand that launched around 2006. Chic and elegant, the clothing is designed for comfort and easy care (think long plane rides). It really is the ultimate in travel clothing. Over the years, I’ve put more Anatomie on my anatomy than any other luxury travel wear. Anatomie is the brainchild of Kate and Shawn Boyer—the husband-and-wife team who started out in the active clothing business. A self-taught designer born in Budapest, Kate worked as a teenage girl’s gymnastics coach to help finance her MBA in International Trade in Montepellier, France. She dressed the championship team in the very outfits she had designed for her personal wear. Later, working on St. Barth, she created private-label collections for a number of luxury resorts. Meanwhile, her husband-to-be Shawn was designing customized clothing for “hard-to-fit” athletic men. The two met in Miami, and the rest is history. The couple transitioned their activewear experience into the athleisure category–a perfect fit for spas and resorts.
“Our affluent and adventurous customer base always wants to feel together, but not give up on comfort and style,” shares Kate. “Anatomie fills that void in their wardrobe especially for wellness trips and spa stays.” They recently added a new material to their line–cashmere–as shown here, with the Emily Cashmere Turtleneck sweater and the Londone Cashmere Relaxed Fit Jogger. “Cashmere is an intriguing category that has a lot of brands, but nobody can match the quality, fit, and feel of our fabric,” says Kate. “The weight and extra stretch of our cashmere is unique, let alone the affordable price points of the styles. We designed these to be timeless, season-less, ageless–like the DNA of the Anatomie brand–so for sure, it’s part of the future of spa style: elevated casual chic.”‘
Subtle Luxury: The Four-Way Travel Wrap
“Here at Subtle Luxury, we all love to travel,” enthuses Julie Lopez Santiago, Operations Manager. “The travel wrap was made with that in mind. Sometimes it’s cold in a tropical resort with the air conditioning. Sometimes it’s too warm even in a snowy environment with all the heaters blaring, and you just can’t imagine wearing a chunky sweater. Our travel wrap covers you either way–open or closed, wrapped around you or off the shoulder–you can adjust the level of warmth you need.” Multi-functional is a signature feature of Subtle Luxury styles, adds Julie, so there’s no need to pack a bunch of different outfits with the travel wrap. “It was designed to be worn multiple ways and layered to create an entirely personal look that flatters all body shapes.”
Known for its lightweight and season-less “California Cashmere,” Subtle Luxury sweaters make for ideal spa wear. The new versatile Four Way Travel Wrap allows for four looks in one and makes a perfect layering piece.
